Rules

The rules concern all students. The parents or the guardians of a student under the age of 18 make sure that the student follows the rules. The year of teaching consists of Autumn and Spring term.

Registrations

All students must register for the classes primarily through the online registration form or the printable registration form. The registration is binding.

Information on the changing of classes will be sent by email to the KETO office keto@keto.fi .

Every student must fill-in and sign a paper copy of the registration form, which the teacher will hand out in the first class. The form can also be printed out from the KETO website and returned to the office before the first class. The registration forms of students under the age of 18 also require the signature of a parent or a guardian. The form will be submitted to the teacher/the KETO office in the first or the second class of the Autumn/Spring term.

The paper form has space for registration for multiple classes. The student must fill in all the classes they are taking during the year of teaching. Every student fills in only one form during the year of teaching.

Trying out classes

If a students wants to try out a class before registering, they can attend one class as a try out. In the beginning of the class the student requires a registration form from the teacher. After the class they have to state in the form whether they wish to continue the class (binding registration) or leave it as a trial. The filled-in form is given back to the teacher after the class. If the student wants to continue attending the class, they will be charged the term charge. In other cases a trial fee of 10/5/0€ will be charged (the bill will be sent by post). The try out does not concern intensive courses.

Absences

If a student has to miss a class, they have a right to a compensation class. Compensation tickets can be acquired from the teacher.  With the ticket, the student is able to attend any weekly class during the on-going term or the first month of the following term. The compensation ticket can be used by any other member of the same household.

The compensation ticket cannot be used for paying the term fee, nor can it be considered in the charge of the fee of the following term. In cases of a sick leave lasting longer than 2 weeks, the student can receive compensation from the missed classes by providing a medical certificate to the KETO office.

Equipment

The equipment and clothing for the classes consists of an outfit in which the student can easily exercise. Some classes may have specific requirements for clothing, of which the teacher will inform the student in the beginning of the term. Water is the best drink for the classes.

Dance sneakers or other equivalent footwear is best suitable for a dance class. The ballet classes are an exception, of which footwear one can find more information from the KETO office and from the class teacher. In some classes no footwear may be required and the students can wear socks or be barefooted (this concerns many children's classes). Ballet classes require a specific outfit which can be discussed with the teacher in the first class.

Jeans, tight clothes, heavy jewelery, high heels, outdoor shoes, long untied hair and strong fragrances are not suitable for a dance class. Due to health and safety reasons,  the teacher has the right to prevent the student from attending the class if found wearing unsuitable clothing.

Information on the content and structure of the classes

The student should arrive to the class on time. The classes normally begin with a warm up exercise. Due to health and safety reasons the teacher can prevent a student from attending the class if they are late for the warm up exercise. The teacher can also prevent students who continuously arrive late or are absent from classes from performing in the end of term dance shows.

The dance classes are learning situations, where the presence of outside viewers might affect the progress of the class and make concentrating in the class difficult. The presence of outside viewers is only acceptable with the permission of the teacher. This also concerns children's classes – if a parent wishes to wait for the student for the duration of the class, they should remain outside of the dance studio.

Guaranteeing a student place

In case of changes in the classes or if the student will not attend the classes of the Spring term 2013, the KETO office must be informed either in writing or by email by the 13th of December, 2012. The same procedure applies to cases where the student changes/cancels only a part of their classes. In cases where the KETO office has not been informed and the student will not attend the classes of the Spring term, the student/the guardian will be charged a fee of 50 € for an unused student place.

The registration of old students for the teaching year of 2012-2013 begins on May. By registering during the pre-registration time the student is able to confirm their student place for the following teaching year, before the official registration begins.

The students are automatically guaranteed a place in the same class for the Spring term. There is also an opportunity to start a class in the middle of a term.

Payment

The tuition fees for the term is paid to the bank account by the due date. Family discount applies to students living in the same household. Family discount may only be given for a full term. An additional 5 € and 9,5% of interest for late payment is charged for a payment notice. In case of the payment going to debt collection, the student/the guardian pays the applicable expenses of the office in question as well as the applicable interest for late payment. In case of credit problems, the fees for the following term must be paid in their entirety before the start of the term.

Cancellation of a course by the student

Canceling their attendance on a class, the student will not be issued a refund or compensation, except in cases of illness, see section “Absences”.

Insurance

The students are not insured by the dance school. The school kindly asks the students to check the validity of their accident insurance.

Bringing an under-age student to the class

It is the responsibility of the guardians to make sure that the student is able to enter the dance studio. The guardian must also make sure that the teacher is aware of the arrival of the student. Children should not be left waiting for the start of the class alone!

Other

KETO reserves the right to all changes. Pictures taken in the dance shows and other events are used for marketing purposes for example in Facebook and the KETO website, unless the student/the guardian has separately and in writing informed the KETO office that pictures in which they appear cannot be used. The published pictures follow the principle of good taste.
